A brick rural family home, that during the 2019-2020 Gippsland fires a couple were inspired to protect their home from bushfire threats over a weekend.
The owners were proactive and wanted to protect their home from bushfire threats and were looking for a cost-effective solution that gave them the confidence their home would survive.

The homeowner’s biggest risk during a bushfire came from Radiant Heat effect on their windows. Single pain windows will crack and fall out when subject to radiant heat greater than BAL 20 kW/m2. They considered the following:
• to replace all their windows with double pain glass
• placing Bushfire Mesh Shield over the windows
They were also looking for a product that was impact resistant and could handle objects being picked up by strong winds and protecting the windows without breaking them. They also wanted a solution that allowed them to keep their windows open. Finally they were looking for a product that wasn’t unsightly and allowed light and air to pass through when required.
These owners selected Bushfire Mesh Shield – Tough as it offers protection against Radiant Heat while still delivering the superior benefits against embers. Installation was easy and their Bushfire Mesh screens are aesthetically pleasing.
