45 years in the wire industry
Throughout his 45 years of involvement in the wire industry, Andrew Greer has seen the market change first hand and has responded to best service this market. With manufacturing becoming less viable in Australia and the need for stainless steel increasing Andrew established Stainless Steel Wire Mesh focusing on the supply of stainless steel wire & mesh. The next generation- Sales Manager Tory Greer and Business Development Manager Amanda Greer have been around wire since they were born and commenced their working careers in Greer Industries during school holidays. Tory & Amanda joined SSWM full time 10 and 8 years ago respectively. They have brought their own business interests and strengths to the family business with Tory focussing on Sales and Amanda on Business Development. Both have been instrumental with driving the growth of SSWM through SSWM’s vision to be your preferred supplier of stainless steel wire & mesh. Project Manager James Greer is involved in developing and maintaining the supply chain and special projects.

TRADING AS GREER WIRE
James A Greer III negotiated with Francis Ashburner in 1979 for the purchase of the company. The company began trading as Greer Wire. Shortly after that Greer Wire relocated from Richmond to Coolaroo, where they continued to manufacture wire products

INHERITANCE
James A Greer – nephew of Joseph Smith – inherited the business and established a partnership with James Ashburner and the business began trading as Greer & Ashburner
1849
Son of the founder
Joseph Smith – the son of the founder – arrived in Victoria in 1849 just prior to the gold rush. He supplied the diggers with wire mesh sieves and the business flourished.
